are there many colleges that require the SAT instead of the ACT?

you must be a west coaster.

the way i understand it, most west coast schools go with ACT and Most east coast schools go with SAT.
I've looked at a lot of the top schools and I only remember seeing one that wouldn't accept the ACT.

There is a conversion table. ACT is mainly mid west schools. But if you are applying to an east or west coast school, I recommend taking SAT too, just so its easier for them to compare...

Umm, don't you have that backwards? West coast, at least in Cali is SAT. They'll accept ACT, but SAT is bigger here.

Every school I applied to wanted the SAT at least. None of them would accept ACT only (East coast, and engineering schools, if that makes a difference).

I think the SAT is by far bigger. I know very few schools that require the ACT, most require the SAT. Just take both.
