All the currently release ones seem to be in the $300 price range, will there be any for less than $150?

Also, which cpus will support 1600mhz fsb? I saw that as being support when I looked through newegg.

I don't think X38 will cover that low of a pricepoint, they have other chipsets for that range.

No current CPUs support 1600FSB, the 1333FSB chips are just now coming out.

give it a month for all of them to be released geeze not all of them are even out yet just gigabyte's and asus's as of now.
But yeah there should be some mid ranged price boards there always are..

We might see some few basic ATX budget X38 mobos that cheap. They wont be much on features though. Might see some mATX mobos in that range too.

Eventually, the DDR2 X38 boards will take the place of the upper-end P35 boards in most product lineups, the target prices for the base X38 DDR2 boards will likely hit $150 in Q1 according to our sources. Still expensive, but more or less a bargain compared to the current prices.... ;)

Most of the upper end p35 board are around or over $200, I dont see x38 boards much below that unless the p35 boards either are discontinued or drop their prices dramatically. I actually am pleasently surpised with current prices (they are high but not anywhere near as bad as I expected) the asus maximus formula se actually is less now then the asus blitz formula se (the p35 version of the board) was when it came out (and it was late to the p35 market) (its actualy less then the blitz at some stores that carry both).

aren't the penryn-based xeons coming out with some 1600 fsb cpus?

just got this from wikipedia:

Intel?s Sep 2007 roadmap revealed three new Penryn based Xeon models with a higher front-side bus speed ? 1600 MHz. The three new 1600 MHz front-side bus processors were available in dual-core and quad-core models. The quad-core Xeon E5472 and E5462 were the first quad-core models to receive the 1600 MHz front-side bus.

The Xeon E5472 features a 3.0 GHz clock speed while the E5462 features a 2.8 GHz clock speed. These models feature 80-watt thermal ratings as designated with the E moniker. Intel plans to release these 1600 MHz front-side bus processors in Q4 2007 with the rest of the Penryn family.

Intel has one 1600 MHz dual-core Penryn based Xeon processor ready for launch ? the E5272. The Xeon E5272 features a 3.4 GHz clock speed and is priced at $1,172. Intel has also pulled in the launch of all dual-core Xeon processors to Q4 2007, with the quad-core processors. The dual-core Xeon E5260 and E5205 will also launch in Q4, not the Q1 2008 date earlier roadmaps showed.

Intel 1600 MHz front-side bus Xeon processors will drop into the upcoming Seaburg chipset. Seaburg features support for dual PCIe 2.0 x16 slots and up to 128 GB of memory
