Are there female connectors for RJ-45 ethernet cables?

This is probably a noob question but im just curious...are there female connectors for ethernet cables...say if you had one that wasent long enough but you had another that would reach the rest of the way is there a connector to sort of hook them together?

Remember that cat5 cant go over 100m (320ish ft.)

yeah...maybe i should have just looked it up...i thought about it...but then i just didnt feel like it...so i thought i'd just bore you with my newbie question :D

yeah I think ill just get a 40 footer made or something

You get a Coupler (Radio Shack is one source).

There are two types of Couplers.

1. Straight - Make two Straight patches into a longer straight Cable.

P.S. Couplers are a good on the spot solution, and might work well for long time. Eventually you are better of exchanging to one sold cable.
