Are there downsides to installing the interactive software (e.g., Interactual Player) that comes with some DVDs?

Somewhere I read/heard that it can really screw up a PC...but I can't seem to find that source any longer.

Any opinions or experience with this?

It locked up my laptop that was running W2K at the time when I tried it once. I always click Cancel.

Some DVDs? It's on every fscking one of them that I've got.

And it does HARDCORE damage to every NT kernel system that I've tried it on. 9x seems unaffected.

I seem to recall that the stuff that came with Disney's Atlantis screwed up my system for awhile.
