A few here and there maybe, but the cheapest DDR3 boards are still more expensive than comparably outfitted DDR2 boards. Add into that the extra expense of DDR3 itself, and it doesn't make sense for most users right now.

I don't think they're performing any better with DDR3 than DDR2, but they're available.

I agree. Why save a few $$$ on a cheap DDR3 board and then just fork out extra $$$ for the RAM? Bottom-line, DDR3 is not for budget right now.
