I'm not sure if it was my washing machine... or some sort of bug that eats cotton.

But I'm starting to notice a lot of my cotton shirts (especially wifebeaters) have holes in them.

My red puma shirt had a few holes in the left corner, I woke up the next morning and the ENTIRE BREAST PART part was missing. This REALLY strange part is (I kid you not)... my bed had this red powdery substance (really really FINE red cotton fragments) in a lump.

What's going on?

Easily. Moths are assholes. You need some spiders in your room for moth control.

Moths dont eat fabric; only the larva.

Probably a hardware store like Ace or True Value would be the best bet to find them IMO.

Best solution  ;).

Mothballs dont do squat. They found out that it's not powerful enough to do repel moths unless you keep it in a contained area like a closet. But they only take effect when the fumes essentially concentrate the closet... but those chemicals are harmful for your health (espeically if you have young kids around).

To get a SPIDER, to find a girl in your apartment complex who has one she wants you to get rid of for her :p

Moth balls smell so nasty. And make everything you own smell nasty. I'll know a mile away when you are coming. And they can't be to healthy for you either.

I'd get a gecko or two and let them loose in your closet.

Moth larvae are nasty and they keep coming back.

All the moth ball crap stinks up your clothes to high heaven plus the odor is so strong that it can causes brain damage. It's on the side of the box as a warning...believe it. PLUS.....it doesn't work unless the larvae are in VERRRY close vicinity of the moth ball.

The best way to defend is to wash your old clothes in the corner and put them in plastic boxes or bags offered in Hold Everything or IKEA type stores.

My wife has a huge ongoing battle with these guys. They have wrecked $1000+ suits before we discovered the problem. Consider yourself lucky....

They typically attack wool, not sure about cotton. What part of the country are you in?
