are there any websites that allow you to create a free chat room?

honestly though, is there anything besides IRC? I'm looking for a way to create a small chatroom, so fans of a team can get together, and in the case of my browns and wolverines, complain about how bad the team is playing during the games.

Do you have AIM/MSN/ICQ/just about any instant messaging program? Most allow you to create chat rooms with multiple people.

When I set up a small chat thing several years ago, I just installed an IRC daemon and put up a Java IRC client on the website. Maybe there's a better way now, but it seems like IRC kind of has the 'chatroom' thing down. Unless you wanted to set it up through AIM or something.

Why don't you all sign up for aim or msn or yahoo or whatever other free chat service is out there and create a room?
