Hi.
Do you lot know of any Via K8T800 mobos with a PCI/AGP Lock?
Cos ive heard that MSI are adding it via a BIOS update to their Mobo, and the same for Asus, but they dont seem to have added one yet.
Or do you think that they`lls scrap the idea and just add it on the K8T880 boards when there available.

Thanks in advance, and have a happy new year!.

I don't think the chipset itself can lock it. It is something that has to be done by the chipset makers, THEN the board maker can add it to the bios to take advantage of it.

The next VIA chipset is SUPPOSED to lock the PCI/AGP lines, but never know till it gets here.

What time frame are we looking at till the next Via chipset comes out then? And the nForce3 250.

They are BOTH probable waiting for the 939 pin Athlon FX/64 chips. When they come out look for sll the new and great stuff that will come from a lot of companies to support it.

I wouldn't count on seeing a functioning PCI/AGP lock coming from a bios update for the K8T800 boards, but of course must qualify that statement as being pure personal speculation based on reflection/consideration of, past chipsets from VIA. I've seen many post by users of various nF3 150 boards that show a lack of a functioning PCI lock on their boards that has yet to be fixed as well. If I were looking to build a skt754 system in the near future, I would choose either the SiS755 or AMD 8151(ALI M1687) + M1563 chipsets but since there is only 1 board featuring each chipset available that I've found, I'll wait to see if either more boards featuring these 2 chipsets hit the market soon, or the nF3 250 arrives and delivers the performance, especially for overclocking, that some of us hope it does.
