are there any vhs dvd combos that allow recording to vhs(not the dvd)

Pretty much all of them allow recording to the VHS side I thought. I know that my JVC unit will record to VHS and allows outputting of both VHS and DVD using RF Coaxial cable on either channel 3 or 4.

if you look at it it says not sold online,not sold in stores so just how am I to get it?

It means they don't have it any more. You are probably better off buying a new tv.

only reason you have to modulate to an rf channel is because the TV doesn't have a proper video input.

That makes the tv at least 15 year old. Buying a tv maybe cheaper.

The problem is that any VCR with a regular TV tuner has to have a digital tuner by law now. The only way you're going to find a cheap dvd/vcr combo with recording capabilities is to scrounge for refurbs or clearance items such as the one I posted.

Most manufacturers have chosen to simply remove the tuner so they don't have to charge a lot for a dvd/vcr.
