Are there any USB cameras that work well in low-light?

I am looking for a security camera for front of house. I've already wired cat6 for it (and could adapt to USB). There are entry level IP cameras for $100, but they are absolute garbage. Small fraction of a megapixel image, terrible noisy, nonsense, not reliable. $300 is about starting price for a good IP camera with quality megapixel daylight image and passable night. However, I really don't want to spend $300. I also don't need an IP camera; I'm ok using a PC running 24/7 processing images off a USB cam.

I've found $50 USB cams that have pretty decent day time images, but as most (all?) are intended for stuff like skype I haven't really found any that are targeted for low-light and have any real reviews (and the $5.50 USB night-vision USB cameras on amazon won't cut it!).

Thanks for any ideas. I've tried googling this but found no good matches.

Update: I'm still looking for advice :) However, some more googling shows me the Logitech C910 does half-decently in low-light. Also the Microsoft Lifecam Cinema, I think it is. They are way under $100, but I'd pay more if I need to.

Then to find some good way to usb over the ethernet.

You can buy an infrared spotlight (illuminator) for security cameras, they mount right next to the camera, typically cost $30-100, and drastically improve performance.
