Are there any studies that support the "traditional" nuclear family?

Just curious. I've only been able to find studies/articles that don't, but I figure there must be some sort of real support for it...

Support how?

Say it's a nice idea, or attempt to prove that anything else is the work of Satan and the sinners should be sent to Neducation camps to be cured of their dum-diddly-deviance?

any articles that don't come from right-wing Christian organizations?

(not that I care all that much... it just annoys me when people post horribly biased material without first mentioning the bias)

I was careful to cite articles where all data was footnoted, showing the source of each study that was cited. You are free to ignore the findings that you don't agree with. Perhaps it's your bias that's showing, since you wrote off the entire thing based on what site it appeared on.

Sociology of the Family from Trinity University Website

Google "Sociology of the Family" and you should get plenty of nonpartisan results - actual social science.

Edit: The nuclear family as we know it today in the US isn't really much of a family at all. Our children aren't being raised by their parents, some teachers and nannies know children better than the people who gave birth to them.

I guess I should've clarified. By traditional, I mean breadwinner/homemaker model with dependent children (e.g. not same-sex parents, single parents, stepfamilies, dual-income families). I'm pretty sure this hasn't been the norm for 10,000 years.

Kranky: Thanks, I'll take a look at the studies cited in those articles. It is pretty one-sided, but I've got enough of the other side so that's fine.
