Are there any stores in your area that "fix" computers

So I'm sure you have all heard about Campus Computing, the computer store I am looking to start, by now.

By some strange twist of fate, or flat out luck, or whatever, our small school and town is offering a business plan contest and the four first place winners get $25,000 - not very much at all, but enough to easily make Campus Computing a reality.

So lately I have been trying to figure out if we should offer to "fix" computers. And tune them up, you know, market it kind of like an oil change for your computer (get rid of spyware, defragment, etc -- most people really do not do these things).

This makes good business sense to me, but what worries me are lots of folks bringing in various old name brand computers with blown proprietary power supplies and such all of which would need to be special ordered and could be a nightmare.

What kind of computer "fix it" services are offered in your area?

Well that is probably what we are going to do.

We will only take in computers made in the last three years and be clear that not all hardware problems will be solved - but we will have some sort of policy that if we cannot fix it you will not be charged and even get $25 credit towards a new computer or something along those lines.

A way to bring customers in and not lose money is my main goal.

I'm willing to bet 90% of the problem folks are having are software related too. Viruses, spyware and such. Optical and hard drives would be an easy fix. It's just the cases, motherboards and pwoer supplies that could be a real problem.
