Are there any species of kitties that stay small?

Is it som much the size or the playfulness. Playfulness wins over size and once kitties get old they just aren't as much fun.

there are dwarf cats. they are normal size but have short legs, like a welsh corgi. they look pretty sad, if you ask me.

OMG this thread is making me sad :(
I guess maybe I should just go down to the animal shelter and pick me up a kitty poof or two.

Some questions about the animal shelter kitties:
1. Will they most likely already have all their shots and vaccines, and already be spayed?
2. Will they already be potty trained?
3. How do I pick out a kitty? I just want one that's snuggly :)

At first, I found this.

Then, I found this.

Thank God. And fuzzybabybunny, I believe you are looking for hamsters.

Wow, it's been years since I've been to the Bonzai kitten website. I never read the petition until now, though. Quite the testament to just how many idiots in the world will fall for something because of a simple email link.

I don't get what's so sad. Many of those breeders even rescue cats. They may be kooky, but don't seem cruel. Again, what am I missing?

My sister-in-law works at a shelter and picked out a kitten for us a few weeks ago. She came litter box trained and with her first shots. It adapted very quickly to our busy family. My wife held it on her bosom for hours the first week and it turned out very snuggly. It just loves my ten and a half year old son and will climb the ladder up his bunk bed to sleep next to him at night.

1. I believe yes
2. Potty training a cat takes less than a minute. Show it where the litter box is - show it once, and unless it is some crazy rebel, it will know where to go. Never had problems with cats in this department.
3. Get one that looks playful, happy and doesn't claw you like crazy. I prefer short-haired cats. Hold out your hand to him - the good ones will stare at it for a minute, then extend their paw and make contact - and probably nibble your fingers a little. The crazy ones hiss and are always in attack mode.

I think it is a gene that makes one in several hundred a munchkin.

*shudder*

Those cats just look...warped to me.

American cats seem to be quite big on average. In other parts of the world, cats can be quite a bit smaller. This is Jefferson; he's pretty much full-grown. Unfortunately, the picture doesn't show scale really well.
