I'm looking for a B&W laser printer to use at home. nothing fancy, just want to use it to print out the occasional document. I want it to have a built-in scanner.

I took a quick look online and it seems like all laser printers are pretty enormous. They are about twice the size of my old inkjet. Are there any smaller models?

Not if you include a scanner. That automatically increases the size. Once you have that, it then adds a copier function and you have an all-in-one. The minimum dimensions must be able to accommodate a toner cartridge. This is about as small as you'll find:

Adding a scanner adds about an inch in width and height.

AIOs are always big. Brother rocks.

1xxx series HP Laserjets are usually as small as they can make 'em. They usually lack features though.
