Are there any single-player zombie-survival games?

L4D & L4D 2 are probably the most popular. The problem is finding something better IMO.

These are neither single-player, nor zombie-survival. They're multiplayer action team shooters.

7 Days to Die looks like it might be what you're after OP. As well, there was a really cool looking game featured on RPS called "The Forest". Survival/horror crafting/building game.

Project Zomboid was created to be a single player experience. Only recently have they begun testing and adding a multiplayer function.

Dead Island
Dead Island Riptide

I haven't played yet, so I don't know about the survival aspect. But there are zombies!

Wow never see The Forest before, looks awesome.

That reminds me of a game where you are the Little Red Riding Hood (?) and you go through the forest on a trail. If you get off the trail, weird events start to happen. Eventually, the game ends by the wolf eating you but it may not look like a wolf.

Anyone know what the name was?

Dead Island CAN be done single player but I've been getting my ass kicked. Those thug lifeguards always knock me down in one hit and I cant kill them before they kill me.

Also you would be doing yourself a disservice playing it single player. It is very fun to play with a group of friends. It's like Left 4 Dead, sure it can be played single player, but it really shines with a group.

I played Dead Island single player all the way through. I don't have any friends though, so I did not really have any choice. It was fun, though it did get a bit repetitive at points just driving back and forth across the island.

Good to know. I don't have any friends either, so I'll be playing single player too. I plan on starting it soon. I'm looking forward to it!

I thought the game was good except for all the kicking. So much kicking.

Saying "single player" really kills this. One of the few games that captures the zombie apocalypse in its true Romero-esque form is DayZ. Zombies are a constant threat, but humans are the most fascinating element of a survival scenario.

DayZ idea sounds great, but in it's execution it is everything I hate about modern gaming.

What I am looking for is a game like RDR: Undead Nightmare but with more emphasis on exploration, crafting and survival.

Basically a DayZ, RUst, or 7 Days to Die game that doesn't rely on you playing with friends to have a good time (im 31 with a full time job like most of my peers, people having families etc... these games that rely on "playing with friends" to enjoy are not on my list)

And there is so much that you can do in a single player game that simply cant be done in a fully multiplayer free roam game like that

And my internet sucks sometimes and and and...

lets just keep it on thread topic and not ask why - SINGLE PLAYER games are the topic here

Yeah, lot's of kicking. I did enjoy running over zombies with vehicles though especially the fast ones. Hated those guys.

Sounds crazy, but I never tired of just driving like crazy around the island and running zombies over. Some sense of self-accomplishment thing. Loved it. The guns are pretty much nerfed (or at least not worth the effort). I tended to stick with bladed weapons (and ranged weapons with some fire aspect) and did really well.

I also played entirely single player and really like the value I got (I paid something like $5).

Funny, I swore I played single player in them and they had zombies. LOL Its possible the OP is looking for something deeper though.

I played through dead island 1 3 times, and riptide once. They were pretty fun games as long as you joined games with other people.

I have to admit I did alot of trolling at the end of the 1st game.

I would throw out all of my deoderant bombs right before the last boss was out of health and blow everyone off of the building
