Are there any programs out there that can enhance or tweak video quality?

I have a few ogm files that look blocky when the video player is maximized and I'm wonder if there is a filter or some type of codec that can smooth the video out or enhance it somehow. Anyone here knowledgable about that kind of thing?

You want a deblocking filter. Try ffdshow, it's a universal video decoder, a "swiss army knife" of video decoding if you will.

Depending on which decoder you are using to view the video, you may just need to enable the deblocking. For example with the XviD decoder, the deblocking is disabled by default I believe. For XviD you should have a shortcut in your start menu for configuring the decoder. If the video was poorly encoded though, which is most likely the case, then It's probably not gonna help much.

thanks for the help fellas, I'll try that out and see what happens

So there's no way to compensate for a poorly encoded clip?

The video is'nt really that bad it's just certain areas that need to be touched up a bit
