Are there any people happy with HDTV's?

Sears has a great deal on a toshiba 36hf73fx...hdtv. I look up reviews...has bowing at bottom. I check it out and sure enough there it is.

i read the other reviews, distorted picture, pixelation, compression of the picture is off, calibration is out of whack..color is not true..blah blah blah.

cannot view the picture unless you are right in front of it.

Does anyone have a HDTV that is good and like it, with no problems that are mentioned above? Maybe I should wait a bit. I have 36" Magnavox that is starting to go, but probably could get another year out of it.

Maybe they will get better at making them.

I have a Hitachi 54" HDTV (rear projection, 4:3) and I can pull up the model number if you desire, I haven't found anything wrong with it, except for the fact that I hadn't been enlightened with AT when my dad bought the thing, and we payed 100 bucks less for "no real loss in features" according to a bastard CC employee. Turns out that feature was DVI, other than that I love this thing.

Not really. Each individual HT technology has SEVERE shortcomings one way or the other.

SEVERE seems kind of severe to state about each technology. I don't see any of them being classified as severe shortcomings. I can see small abnormalities between each technology, but SEVERE shortcomings? I think not.

Truth be told, look at as many television sets as you can under as many of the conditions in which you watch television as possible. Whichever one looks the best to you, purchase it and be happy about it. There will always be some a$$hole with an opinion.

What reviews are you reading? Trade mags with experts reviewing out-of-the-box sets? A set like that could do with an ISF calibration but many people wouldn't notice a difference.

I love my 27" Philips/Magnavox CRT HDTV. It's 4:3 but when it's in widescreen it doesn't really bother me at all. I think HD looks great on it, plus i got it for $365. Watching CSI: Miami in HD right now 🙂
