I'm looking for a cheap PCIe 3 output video card...is there such a thing? This stupid office computer will only allow one video card output so adding another video card won't cut it...I need one card that can output to 3 monitors. Any cheap ideas would be appreciated.

There are DP to DVI adapters, the 5770 i thought had two DVI, one HDMI and one DP (IIRC) all of those have adapters to either HDMI or DVI

I might as well just buy one of those matrox TripleHead2Go T2G-A3A-AJF that are about $280 I guess.

Probably your best bet would be to find out why the PC will only allow one GPU output (never heard of that, are you sure this is the case?). If thats true its probably some dumb OEM mobo issue, in which case a new mobo and two cheap GPUs might be a cheaper solution maybe

trust me I've tried and tried...its a stupid HP microtower with OEM mobo...the thing doesn't even have any PCI slots. HP says, only one GPU outup :(

Check out some of the older, more exotic dual-GPU cards, 3870X2 for example. Some board makers used custom cooling, allowing them to mount 3 or 4 display outputs on the bracket.

This looks like one:

Looks like it's a lot cheaper to get a DP -> DVI converter and a 5750.

It'd be so much cheaper to just use two cards but your manager won't allow it? lame.

Try a USB graphics adapter if performance is not an issue.

It seriously doesn't even have regular PCI slots?

That's not going to work either unless he just wants one large virtual display.

I think because until this card came out the only people who needed them were Dell and Apple notebook users for the most part. Aren't those pretty much the two most gouge-able demographics in computing? :D

Does it really need to be PCI-e only and is there really no other way to add in another card?

that being said, here are a few options:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814195086

actual workstation card consumes very little power ( 16 Watt (2D), 26 Watt (3D) ) and comes with some decent looking software conducive to multi-monitor workstations

http://www.provantage.com/jato...x309-quad~7JAT901U.htm

the poor man's workstation card, can power 4 monitors via dual Radeon HD 3450s. Not sure about driver support (for instance, I'm not quite sure how it works or if you could use drivers directly from AMD, however Jaton seems to limit users to 32bit OSes with the driver packages they offer), this one might be a bit riskier compared to the FirePro 2450

Biggset con about those cards is that they're all single link DVI meaning you'll be limited to 1920x1200 LCD panels.

If you need support for 2560x1600 monitors then you're going to have to hunt down one of the discontinued 3800 X2 or 4800 X2 cards that came specialized with four dual link DVI ports.

Although it would be ultimately be cheaper to go for a 5700 or 5800 and then pay for one of those expensive display port adapters.

Anyway we look at it, if you're really limited to one PCI-e card you're going to be spending at least ~$230.
