This made me realize that I don't know of any. It's sad if Fallout is the only game in town. I'd love a good WW2 based RPG (without zombies and black magic crap).

Septera Core was pretty good, but good luck getting it running on anything newer than Win98.

Unfortunately not enough. Fallout and F2 were among the best ever. Screw the aholes who cancelled F3.

Look at Bethesda's website. They bought the Fallout rights from Interplay, and have hired Black Isle people that made the original Fallouts. Fallout 3 is being made.

sci-fi ok?

Yeah. I just can't get into games with magic spells and stuff.

i have trouble getting into fantasy-themed games too. just have trouble connecting.

like another suggested, try starwars: knights of the old republic . it's star wars so it has limited fantasy elements but it's truely a great RPG.

if you haven't u should also try deus ex. it's a cyberpunk RPG/FPS hybrid

Anachronox is a nice sci-fi rpg. It does have magic..sort of..and the battles are in the same style as Final Fantasy. It does take place in the future and you travel to different planets and stuff. The game runs on some enhanced version of the Quake 2 engine and it doesn't look so bad. Its nicely written and has fun characters and humor. What other rpg sports a mexican luchador and a shrunken planet as party companions?

I've played Deus Ex. I didn't like the sequel that much.

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines.

It's buggy as sh!t out of the factory because Activision QA refused to test it because of it's complexity and the devs didn't have the money to do it, but a fan-authored patch that fixes almost all of it is out.

Edit: It's a FPS/3PS/RPG hybrid, and has limited "magical" (more paranormal) elements (You're a FVCKING VAMPIRE)
