Are there any PC Cases Designed like the G4

Not the look of the G4, I don't give a rats a** about the colors and such, if you open up the G4's case you'll know what I mean. You push a button and the case opens up. The mainboard is attached to the side panel and opens up giving complete unimpeded access to the mainboard.

If there isn't whats the closest thing you guys have seen.

I've not seen anything like the G4 in terms of it's "fisher price" look and feel, but there are lots of designer cases these days. Unfortunately, most designer cases are a real pain in the azz to work on. So, no I have not seen anything even close to the G4 design, although I'm sure there will be soon. Those full-tower polished stainless steel cases are pretty phat tho🙂

Guygye,

you only want a case which has the same motherboard tray mechanism like the G4 case and design is no issue, right? I haven' t seen one yet 😉, but a very cool case is the Coolermaster ATC-200. It has a motherboard tray, which you can slide out. You don' t need a screwdriver to do this, because it is fixed by five thumbscrews.

Right now I' m using an Inwin 500 case, which also has this mechanism, but it only has normal screws. I can' t slide the tray out, because one PCI-card (when I remember correctly it is the Adaptec 2940) is too high so I would need to take the card out first. Because of this I have always opened the side covers. I think you won' t face this problem with the Coolermaster. The only problem might be the lenght of the cables.

There have been several reviews on this case, just do a search (don' t forget the web news section).

yes, someone posted one about a month ago that folded down just like the G4 cases. It wasn't quite as nice looking, but it had similar features. I have no idea what it was though. Good luck finding it.

the palo alto designs cases are pretty good. Not quite that good , but from the dell's i've seen with it, you just need to press down two plastic tabs to get the side to come off and the drives slide out in a cage

I hope nobody recommends the blue and translucent plastic submarine case. It is a G4 case knockoff, but it is truly a piece of crap.

I got a 286 desktop case that opens like that, but i doubt you'd want it, with the high quality 80w power supply and all

I thought if might be difficult with all the pci cards and such but I'll keep looking, thanks guys
