Are there any paypal-esque ebay payment tools that DONT take a huge chunk of your money?

Paypal fee is quite reasonable. The fee/rate is not much more than if you were to get your own merchant account. Credit card processing companies usually charge between 1.4 - 2.0% on VISA & MASTERCARD and 3% on AMEX. Plus, there's a monthly service fee that you have to deal with and per transaction fee. Then there's the equipment fee. The list goes on and on. For such a small or infrequent transaction, I think Paypal is a good option. I guess it's a small price for you to pay for the convenience of not having to deal with all the paperworks, equipment cost, and other miscellaneous processing fees that come with a real business merchant account.

Or you can do everything by check via snail mail. :D

They don't take a percentage if you don't have premium...all that means is u can't accept CC.

Ed's right, personal accounts have ZERO FEES to accept payments.

Of course there's a catch, you CANNOT accept credit card payments.

Just email them and say you want to cancel the premium and go back to the free. And from then on make sure ur clear that you don't accept CC based Paypal. Who care about those schmucks who only have CC. From what I gather most people will also have a non-cc based Paypal. It just means that at most it might take them 3/4 days more to input $ in there.

Yep- I recently did this.

But be prepared for the barrage of people who will still try to send your credit card payments.

**rants** people dun always read the payment terms - they end up paying using CC to my paypal account and i have to reject them...

I'm sick of ebay taking so much during and auction and trying to take even more using Paypal... *rant ends*

As for the payment options - i use C2it for credit card payments. As far as I recall - it's the senders who take the fees ;)

I called Paypal and in 5 minutes talked to a rep who downgraded my acct.

For cc payments i just used an alternate email address and made a new acct.
