Are there any MS-DOS drivers for the Maxtor ATA-100 card??

I want to multi boot between MS-DOS 6.22, WIN98 & W2K Pro. I plan on installing MS-DOS on the C:\ partition, but someone just told me that my PC will never boot because there are no MS-DOS drivers for my Maxtor ATA100 Card. Anyone know if this is true, and if it is, doesn?t anyone know if there are any ATA100 card drivers for MS-DOS?

Thanks a lot.

Not sure about DOS 6.22, but when I boot with a Win98SE startup disk (DOS 7) it can see the hard drives on my Promise Ultra100 (Maxtor is just a rebadged promise) just fine. Performance might not be top notch, probably operating in PIOMode4 rather than DMA mode, but you hardly need 35MB/s sustained hard drive I/O in DOS.

I use the DOS version of partition magic from a Win98SE startup disk all the time.

My config is:

Promise Ultra100:
d0: IBM 75GXP 45Gig
d1: Empty
d2: IBM 75GXP 30Gig
d3: Empty

Motherboard Controller:
PM: Asus 50x CDROM
PS: Toshiba 12x DVDROM
SM: Yamaha 8x8x24
SS: Zip250

I can see all 6 drives fine in DOS.

Edit: Oh yeah that's without bothering with any Ultra100 drivers at all.

What about having the CD-Rom attached to the Promise controller card. Anyway to do a clean install w/cd-rom support that way (nothing connected to the mobo built-in controller)?

Thanks

you'll have to connect your cd drive to the m/board ide controller or else the drive will not be seen or found if on the controller card!

Exactly!! But there has to be a way to do it. Just like when you change a Win98 boot disk to see a SCSI CD-ROM through the scsi contoller card.
