Are there any motherboards with AGP and PCI express slots?

Title pretty much says it all. Im thinking there arent but im wondering why. If there is that would be great since I am thinking about getting a new motherboard but just recently bought a new AGP video card so that it would work in my current motherboard. Also are there any motherboards that support Althon64 and have an AGP slot?

If you want _proper_ AGP alongside PCIE, you'll have to wait a bit until the new ULi M1695 chipset makes it onto commercially available mainboards.

I still wouldn't use a ULI chipset. Tend to be buggy, but who knows this one could be good. I think the few Southbridges that ATI will use by their design also support AGP 8x along with PCI-E. The Biostar NF4, supports AGP, however instead of running on the AGP bus at 66mhz, it is an AGP port running off of the PCI bus. We are talking maximum 400% performance loss on the Biostar due to the PCI bus being used; only good if you need time to get another PCI-E card or something.

You don't have to go that route.

Contrary to what everyone says, AGP is still alive & kicking (albeit smaller kicks) for s939 AGP A64s :)

If you are looking to upgrade to A64, get an MSI Neo2 Platinum, & enjoy.

You can always switch to PCI-e later, which is what i plan on doing, when there's a real need to.

There's a new Asrock motherboard that has both AGP and PCI-E as well as a special expansion slot for M2 socket processors. Really future proof. Cheap mobo too, I think in the 80-90 dollar range. However, you take reliability risks with a less-known manufacturer.

Indeed, ASRock seem to be first out the door with the ULi M1695+M1567 chipset. At least they're first to have it on their website ;)

ASRock is an ASUS spinoff, fueled with enough of an engineer injection that they know what they're doing. End user support is rather miserable though - just like with any other board maker that focuses on huge volume OEM deals (Chaintech, PC-Chips, Biostar, etc. etc.).

So, same advice as with those others: If you know your stuff, and don't ever need more support than drivers, manuals and BIOS updates, fear not.

You mean without PCI-e? Yes, just about every manufacturer has some for the two sockets, using the nForce3 chipset or a VIA chipset.. Of course you might miss it considering how the posts here are swamped with nForce4 mobos. It is just that a lot of the clientel here are hot gamers with over-sized wallets.

Considering the low cost of a bunches of nForce3 mobos, or VIA, there is not a lot of reason to abandon an expensive AGP video card.
