One thing I've always noticed is how few minorities vote for the GOP. You see the GOP base on TV is mainly white. Donald Trump's followers are even whiter!!!! Ben Carson is a star for the GOP because he's black and a GOP candidate....

Even though I might agree with the platform of a GOP candidate (if possible), I would have a hard time voting for him/her. I would have a hard time trying to vote for a candidate who's followers commonly refer to me as a sand niger (intentionally missing a g). As well as refers to gays as faggots, women as bitches etc.....

Just curious for those that are out there (minorities) who commonly vote GOP, how do you do it???? What is your rational/justification?

Also, if true, do you consider yourself as a minority? I understand there are some minorities who actually feel they are not a minority (i.e. Blacks who feel they are White, East Asians who feel they are Majority)????

I once worked with a black guy who was all set to vote for David Duke (a former clan guy) because one of his ideas was to pay poor single women to get the deprovera(spelling) 90 day birth control shot.
Listening to Bill explain how many young black women have their lives ruined by children they can't support had me second guessing too.

In-Laws are Asian and primarily GOP, basically for the same reasons as most white voters I would assume - low taxes, streamlined welfare, quasi "family values" that align with traditional family and gender roles (albeit the slightly patriarchal flavor common with many older Asians).

I'm white. Wife is Vietnamese. She votes GOP. My anecdotal report is that the majority of the Vietnamese community in New Orleans (about 1.7% of the city's population) votes GOP.

The nation's first Vietnamese Congressmen, Joseph Cao (R), came from this community. In fact he actually represented my wife's family in court once.

FWIW.

Asians don't count. They are the highest earning group of people in this country.

Minorities means marginalized based on skin color, not simply having different color skin.

So to be clear, you are inferring that people of a certain political persuasion are either racists, bigots, or sexists? Do you have any estimate of how many? The number must be pretty damn high if you are letting it impact your political preference. Either that or your political ideology is pretty shaky.

So minorities means blacks or latinos now? Got it.

Thought: why not just say blacks and latinos?

Honestly, if you look at the votes by race, the question is really just posed to black people.

http://ropercenter.cornell.edu/polls/us-elections/how-groups-voted/how-groups-voted-2012/

The hispanic and asian percentages are very high for Obama in 2008 and 2012 (70+%)

But look at 2004 - when two white people ran.

http://ropercenter.cornell.edu/polls/us-elections/how-groups-voted/how-groups-voted-2004/

Black

88 - D
11 - R

Hispanic

53 - D
44 - R

Asian
56 - D
43 - R

So I guess a lot of Asians see themselves as minority voters, but the real question is why?

Because they are minorities and they vote.

This is kind of what I was thinking, Yet I don't agree with Asians feeling they don't count????

Asians are targeted based on their race. Also when they open businesses they apply for 8a and MBE status. They are defined within 8a as disenfranchised....

Believe it or not all there's a continuum of Asian male chauvinism and not all of them are complete pigs, just as some Asian women are good drivers ;)

They aren't going to be considered 3rd wave feminists but they've evolved a bit from Archie Bunker attitudes.

My experience with that has been more that mothers overwhelmingly favor their sons over their daughters, particularly when the son is the firstborn. Sucks for my wife and her sister.

I've seen that dynamic at work also. Don't know if it's relevant in forming their political opinions though since things like abortion don't seem like hot button topics for any of them. I guess it could (big "could" there however) slightly reduce the allure of a female candidate like Hillary though I suppose.

I don't know...maybe because they actually are a racial minority in this country? /facepalm

I'm not sure white people treat them as minorities, day to day interactions are not fraught with microaggression like how whites treat hispanics and blacks.

They may be technically minorities, but I am not sure they are socio-economic minorities nor do whites assign minority stigma to them.

Disenfranchised yet a lot of major cities have a Chinatown. Some cities have hispanic or black neighborhoods, but not official recognition.

I think they are technically racially minorities, but as far as society is concerned, they are quite often not treated as the rest of the minorities.

They aren't quite Jews as far as honorary whites go, but getting there.

Wow. The way you think amazes me.

I'm pretty sure he's trolling at this point. No one on this forum would use "microaggression" seriously.

Lots of black people refer to women as bitches and hoes all the time. Listen to some shitty rap music......................

They believe the Propaganda of the Democratic Party and their Agents of Propaganda, ie., The Media.--That's Why.
