Are there any mini Displayport to DVI Dual Link active adaptors that "don't" suck?

Got a 7970 connected to two Shimean 2500x1440 27 inch monitors. The Monitors only have DVI DL. Using the DVI DL output on the 7970 and an Accell Mini Displayport to DVI DL to run the monitors.

Here's the adaptor I'm currently using and the POS aint cheap for how crappy it works: http://www.amazon.com/UltraAV-Mini-D...adaptor+accell

Problem: Coming out of sleep or monitor-off mode, just doesn't work (and yes this adapter is supposedly "approved" by AMD. Either the screens are both corrupted, just black, or hosed in other annoying ways that require a complete reboot to clear. I know it's at least partially the adaptor's fault because without it and just using the single DVI DL card output, everything works fine; so it's either the adaptor or mini displayport of the card. Unfotunately, the Shimean monitors only have DVI DL input and the mini-displayport of the 7970 does not do 2500x1440 without an active convertor to DVI DL.. Which is kinda BS..

These active adapters are NOT cheap, and I don't want to waste money on another one to try if they all suck at these high resolutions.

So I'm getting around the BS at the moment by using an old 5450 card with DVI DL output hooked up to the second monitor. I prefer to only use one video card, but if this is really the only way this video issue, I will stick with it since the 2nd $30 video card is a lot cheaper than another $100 active adapter that sucks. Was just hoping to save electricity and simplify with only one vid card.

FYI I don't do multi-monitor gaming. I only lightly game on one of the monitors so I don't need anymore GPU power beyond what a single 7970 can provide.

Main components of System:
Asus P9X79 Pro, i7-3960X, 32GB, XFX 7970, LSI 9270-8i

There are sleep issues with AMD drivers. I learned of a fix and it's been working for me so far with my multi-monitor setup.

If you have it, run AfterBurner and find the cfg setting to keep clocks constant and not allow the card to adjust clocks down when going into and coming out of sleep.

That has solved my sleep issues at this point.

Thing is that it works fine without the mini-displayport adapter and/or using the 2nd AMD vid card. The sleep also works fine if I use the 2nd DVI in single-link mode (but then my 2nd monitor is maxed to 1080P-ish resolutions). If it was purely a driver issue, I would think it would affect all the modes. I'm more inclined to believe it's the adapter because sometimes, I could get the DVI DL port to work after the black and/or other corruption by disconnecting everything and reconnecting, but the PC would still not recognize the 2nd monitor adapter any more or if it did, it would corrupt badly until a reboot..

And BTW: This is the 2nd adapter I've tried that does the same thing. Sent first one back for exchange for the same issue.

I think though that it is tied to how the card and system handle displayport though. So while maybe my fix won't work, I'm not sure you have other options aside from abandoning sleep mode.

Regarding adapters though, I think the one you have is the only one that exists (just re-branded all over the place).

If that's the case, I'll probably just stick to using the 5450 on the 2nd monitor. Since it has a regular DVI DL output and supports high rez, and doesn't use much power (doesn't even have a fan), it's probably my best option as it seems to work fine this way at the cost of one PCIe slot. Since I only play games on the other screen hooked to the 7970, it should work fine as I only do regular work/videos on this monitor. Kinda BS that you need to use an expensive adapter on the displayports just to get high resolution..
