Are there any Marvel or DC Comic Book compilations?

I'd love to read the old Comics I never got a chance to from the start and was just curious if they ever put together compilations of old comics out on the market so those of us that cant afford the original comics could buy em and read.

There are plenty of trade paperbacks out there. Hundreds. Go into a comic store, or just search amazon by a particular titles (Hulk, Spider-man, whatever). Nowadays, they trade EVERYTHING, so the trick is to know what's worth getting, and what's a waste of paper.

I went to Amazon and typed "x-men collection" to find a 461-issue DVD-ROM ($50)

For printed versions, going to Books and typing "x-men" turned up "Uncanny X-Men Omnibus (Hardcover)" (X-Men 94-131) among other books.

Libraries also carry some of the collections, you're likely to find at least the Batman "Dark Night Returns" and "Year One" books.

I actually bought a DVD that has tons of comics on it from amazon. Seems like a really complete selection from the 60s through the 00s

Yep. Astonishing is an awesome series. Plus, Joss Whedon is writing it, too. ;)
