Are there any IB Celeron/Pentium dual-core chips yet?

Just curious. I thought that Intel had some excess 22nm capacity stockpiled. But still haven't seen IB Celerons yet.

Figured one of those would make a very cool and low-power HTPC. Plus, didn't they (almost?) fix the 29.97Hz bug?

There are supposedly 2 Ivy Bridge Pentiums - the G2120 and G2100T, but I'm not sure where you can buy them. AFAIK there is no IB Celeron.

Perhaps Intel is having great yields on 22nm, or maybe they're holding out to get rid of all of their older 32nm parts?

Yes, but unfortunately, it's $95. Not $50, which is the price range I was looking for. (SB Celeron dual-cores are in that range.)

But I wanted a 22nm for power reduction.

Edit: I guess I feel that if I'm going to pay nearly $100 for a CPU, which, in prior generations of CPUs, would get me a quad-core, than I had better at least get a decent dual-core with HyperThreading. Intel doesn't offer either in IB at that price point, so no Intel for me.

The Pentium G2120 is relatively easy to find online. As for the Celeron, the rumour mill says Intel will launch the G1620, G1610 and G1610T in Q1 2013.

Specwise the G1620 should be clocked at 2.7GHz and the G1610 at 2.6GHz. The low-power G1610 should be clocked at 2.3GHz. All have 2MB L2 and a DDR3-1333 limit...

Seriously? When has Intel EVER sold a quad-core for $100? Even the totally crappy neutered Q8x00 series were closer to $200 when launched.

I remember the q6600 for a long time costing the same as their e8xxx dual cores,

but unfortunately Intel have been quite conservative with their prices lately...
cheapest quad core at $190 is quite bad...

also the g2120 price is quite high...

G2120 is actually cheaper (and a good part faster) than the product it replaces.

f you decide your friend doesn't need quite this much power you could trim back to an e8400 @ $165 and save $155 while still providing a really fast system.

I will say someone should not pay a premium just to save power on their chip.

Heck i experimented with my i5 2500,i found downclocking it to 2.2ghz dropped its wattage at load by half,using coretemp it showed a load of 30w while at 3.3ghz,it would run up to 61w if i recall.

I could not make my 2500 break 40cel at 2.2ghz at full load running intelburn on the stock cooler....

read my post again, I just said that their "midrange CPUs" be it quad core or dual core were costing the same at some point, so "quad core" shouldn't carry necessarily an extra price, and we are not in 2008 anymore.

the price was, 4+ years ago.
you could find easily for less than $200, less than $180 at times, while you had e8xxx around the same range, when the i5 650 was released (dual core) it was sold for over $200, while you could get a q8xxx or q6600 for under $170,
also these old quads when OCed can still beat current $140 CPUs when OCed (good luck with blck OC, thanks Intel for locking everything) in MT, that's pretty uninspiring...
Intel is just being extremely "conservative" with their pricing and strategy.. they are holding the sub $180 performance quite a bit,
