Are there any HDs that run of USB/FireWire power?

What the topic said. It's a pain to have to carry a power cord and brick for the HD. Not to mention needing an extra outlet.

There are also some that use two USB ports to draw enough power. However, this can be a little iffier, as it depends on the USB controller being able to output enough juice.

You NEVER want to depend on port power. One time it will work and another it won't. Desktop drives (3.5") require both 12 and 5V supplies - notebook drives 2.5" use just 5V. And you can cause problems with other devices on the port if you draw too much juice. Moral: Carry the brick AND grounded and non-grounded triple-taps for the AC outlets!
