Are there any GPS devices for children?

I was watching 20/20 last night and wondering why they haven't invented something like this yet? Kids don't have the same rights as adults so the courts don't have to get involved. Put one on your child and if they go missing, you'll know where they are. Sounds like a good idea to me, right?

Wow...I dunno about shooting an RFID tag into my child's neck...just sounds a bit harsh.

On a strictly geek level, I love the idea. It's like "KIDJACK" (as opposed to LOJACK). If your kid gets swiped, the police activate the homing beacon in the kids' neck and the find your kid before they get him/her to the chop shop.

Too obvious. Maybe it can be something in their socks or the internal part of their clothes. An RFID would be too inhumane. They're not groceries, they're kids.

how bout a chip that is injected into there blood system when they are born, so even when they become a mass murder they can find them and ID them. 🙂

The thing about that is that you want something that's always with them. Clothes are changed often. Though I also agree that RFID would also be out of the question for ethical reasons. I guess the best place is the shoes? If tracking equipment is cheap enough, just plant one in each pair of shoes and I guess that would be it.

An RFID tag would require that devices that can read them be everywhere. One of my profs talked about a GPS watch that tracks kids.

Hey, how long is that antenna. It looks legit but it also looks like the antenna could stretch all the way to the satelite itself. Or just do it how the government does and imbed a chip in his skin. 24/7 tracking without him ever knowing. 😀
