Are there any good sites on web design?

and i don't mean sites on html like webmonkey... i mean *design*... like usability and layout techniques... i've seen some good books on this, but i've never seen a good site on this. the books will often have many real life examples to illustrate techniques...
 
I search for people who design sites and look at their sites. I take bits and pieces of everyones sites, and use them for myself. 🙂
 
hehe, that's what i do too! but i was in the bookstore the other day and read some books about it, and thought, "boy it'd be nice to have a site dedicated to this"

and there are a lot of subtleties... i'm not sure i would pick all of them up just by looking at the sites.
