My mom in law is in need of one and I can't find one that is a reasonable price and the smaller the device the better. Don't bother asking why she need one, its family business. Thanks!

Yeah, RadioShack makes/sells one. You plug a regular phone cord into it. It records on mini cassettes.

Radio Shack is your answer KhoiFather, but make sure before you tape a phone conversation, that it's legal in your hometown :)

LOL, legal? It's gonna be recording the phone convo in the house.

If you live in the US, there are Federal Laws that you should be aware of IMO :)

OH eh, like?
As long as one party is aware of the recording it's legal IIRC. As it's your mom doing the taping, it shouldn't be a problem.

Actually, I believe there are state laws that require both parties know that the conversation is being taped.

Hm. Quick google search found this, for what it's worth:
Twelve states require, under most circumstances, the consent of all parties to a conversation.
Those jurisdictions are California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington.
