Are there any "good" Mobos with integrated video?

The newer Nforce 4 have fairly good integrated graphics, equal to a GF 6200

Search Newegg for the nvidia 6100 and 6150 chipset. There are mobos for both socket 754 and 939, most/all with a PCI-E slot.

If you're trying to upgrade to PCI Express on a budget, look at the Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 motherboard- it has a full AGP and a full PCI-E slot.

The ASRock Dual series PCIe is only x4 electrically, IIRC.

Will I be able to put in a "big card" like the 7800GTX when I can afford one a year from now (when they're about 200 bucks)?

I'd assume the PCIE slot is a "REAL" bandwidth PCIE slot?

As long as it has a x16 PCIe (most if all do) then yes you can upgrade later with no ill affects.

Some models of the Tyan K8E have an embedded ATI chip. It's there and it works is about all you can say. Still I chose that option because I've had more video cards flake out than any other piece of hardware. If my card goes south, at least I can continue to work until I get a replacement.

You can buy an ATI x300 SE for around $40 in the FS/T forum if you keep your eyes open. It is PCI-E and plays BF2 at 800x600. Add that to a DFI NF4 Ultra-D if you're going AMD for a nice rig.

I have an MSI RS-482 ati chipset board with integrated graphics.. in most games it's pretty good for an integrated card. I think in reviews they said it could beat an nforce 3 integrated chip, but I'm unsure it could beat an nforce4. I typically get 75fps on CS1.6, but it dropped to about 20fps in halo @ 800x600, 5fps @ 640x480 in FEAR.

my future plan is to get an x800gto and unlock it :D

I'd definitely get one of the NVidia 939 boards.

Biostar and ASRock are much better brands than Foxconn in my experience. Biostar or ASRock are kind of budget brands, but I'd rather have one of them than a lot of the more popular brands. They're some of the only ones I've had consistantly good luck with (but maybe it's just luck).

Anyway, I'd get the GeForce6100-M9 if you don't want to overclock ($60) and the TForce6100-939 if you do want to overclock a little ($70)

my $65 biostar died in 35 days, personally I wont buy their products again. Emailed support, no response.

BTW, I did use a Biostar TForce6100-939 in a cute little mATX system I made for a friend with 2GB, an X2 4400 and a Raptor 74. Nothing wrong with it at all (although it's not using the integrated video). The only downside I could come up with is that it doesn't have 1394. And the only difference between that and the GeForce6100-M9 is overclocking options and a better heatsinks.

Yeah? And I had two DFI boards show up DOA. I emailed support several times and never got a response. I've bought many Biostar boards with no problems ever, and most have been in use for well over a year.

And it's significantly more annoying when your $150 DFI dies than when your $60 Biostar dies. :)

edit: Not that I don't like DFI. I have two systems with DFI boards right in front of me. They've been great. I just had to RMA the boards and they've worked fine ever since. It seems like most boards that make it through the first month are going to last a long time ... except for the ones with bad caps, and those K7S5A boards that are like (were?) a time bomb waiting to go off.

Nothing within a light-year of what you have currently in the 6800 Ultra. I'd keep your setup and wait & see what happens with DirectX 10 and Vista, not to mention socket M2. Assuming you're actually using your video card for what it's designed to do, there's no point in upgrading the MB until you have a video solution that can really replace it.

The ASUS A8N-VM CSM might qualify as a "good" MB, but it has basically no overclocking capability, and its 6150 video is a huge step back from a 6800 Ultra.

Why even bother sending an e-mail, DFI has there own live support forums with their own techs moderating..

If you don't plan on gaming... which i doubt you are, just find a used PCI card. I'm sure there's a local computer shop that would sell used computer equipment like this (normally surplus stores).
