Are there any good eSATA adapters out there???

I would like to get an eSATA link to work on the new computer I built for the wife's office. Intel DH87MC motherboard with the 4670K I5 processor. I have an older Intel board in my desktop unit, DH55HC that has 2 red SATA ports on the board for eSATA hook up, but the new one doesn't have this. I have a cheap back panel add-on eSATA receptacle with a SATA cord on it, but it doesn't work with my wife's USB2/eSATA Seagate external drive (with it's own power supply). I guess I should check my Nexstar external case and see if it works or not. Anyway, open to suggestions! TIA Jim.

Hmmmm...good question....I don't remember. I'll try powering it down and bringing it back up with the eSATA cable hooked up. If that doesn't work, I'll give the utility a try. Might be tomorrow or Friday before I have a chance. Thanks for the ideas! Jim.

Couldn't stand it, had to go try tip #1 with hook up with power off....Worked like a champ!!!!! THANK YOU!!! Actually with this particular external hard drive, there is no powering it down. It is constant on when the computer is on. Something I don't like about this particular backup drive. Mine is a drive in a separately purchased external case and it has the on/off switch on the back.
Now maybe I can get my back up drive back! Jim.
