I'm running Windows 2000 professional. Should dvdplay.exe work with a SB live and a GForce DDR video card? I would think it would but it says that it can't find a decoder. My understanding is that the SB live has a decoder. Perhaps I need some special decoding software? If so, is there any free decoding software out there? Thanks!
I tried DVDPLAY.EXE on my Win2K machine and it could run and play my movies, but has limited options to configure. I don't have any hardware decoder installed, but I do have PowerDVD 3.0.
If you don't have a DVD drive yet, you can get one from Multiwave at whatever price and an OEM copy of PowerDVD for a mere $5. I got the latest Pioneer slot-load ATAPI one (16x, IIRC). I'm not sure if it's available with all DVD drives there, but I imagine it is.
