are there any fast food places that don't load everything up with enough salt to choke a horse?

FDA recommends 2.4 grams of sodium per day. you only need a quarter to one half of that each day, i've found. but it seems like most items on fast food menus have at least a gram of salt. many have two or three. even subway isn't immune.

remarkably, taco bell regular tacos have half the sodium of the soft tacos, and you can eat 3 of them and get only a gram of salt

Salt isn't that bad for you.

"I can't imagine how they came up with that number. I mean, there isn't a single bit of evidence that suggests 2,400 milligrams is better than 2,100 or 3,700," said Dr. Michael Alderman, who headed the American Society of Hypertension, America's biggest organization of specialists in high blood pressure. He says some people should cut back on salt, but for most people, it's pointless. Some studies have found that those who ate the least salt were four times more likely to have heart attacks.

Don't confuse sodium for salt. While salt is a large source of sodium there are others. MSG comes to mind and I'm thinking a lot of the other sources are preservatives.

Mmmmmmmmmm salt. Salt was used as currency in parts of the ancient world, and in fact was payed to Roman soldiers. The real end of the Roman Empire - from high sodium diets? The begining of the fast food empire? You be the judge.

if anything i'm confusing salt for sodium. the figures i've been looking at say 'sodium.' that would include both msg and salt. almost 6 grams for a foot-long BMT. and that's before cheese and pickles.

Is there any reason you are cutting down on salt? Do you have an intolerance to MSG?

A single Arby's Melt (roast beef + cheese) contains as much as 900mg of salt. WTF.
