Are there any differences between the PS3 and 360 versions of Madden 10?

I've been thinking about buying Madden 10, since I've been hankering for a football game, and I haven't played one since Madden 2005 and NFL 2K5 on the original XBOX. I own both a PS3 and a 360, and I've been reading reviews on different sites, and nobody has really mentioned any difference between the PS3 and 360 versions. I'm leaning towards the PS3 version, since I have zero confidence in Microsoft and the 360 after mine RROD'ed, but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't another lazy port to the PS3 with longer load times, worse framerates, etc. Does anybody have any experience with both, or is there a comparison out there that compares the two versions? If there is a link to a gaming site, could you please copy and paste the pertinent text into your post? Thanks.

Please stay on-topic and keep the "lol ps3" and "360 sux" flame wars out of here. Thank you!

I don't own a 360, but I do own Madden 08 and Madden 10. I can say without a doubt that Madden 10 is WAY better than Madden 08. Load times are much better, the animations, and framerates are much smoother. I can't say for sure that it is exactly the same as the 360 version, but I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed with it. Any differences I'm sure are negligible. I think it more comes down to if you have any friends on either console that have it that you would want to play with.

Edit: Here is a gamespot comparison of Madden 09 on both consoles. They say it's pretty much the same, so that should provide you some reassurance.

We wouldn't be able to tell the Xbox 360 and the PS3 apart in Madden 09 if it weren't for the different onscreen action buttons. Both games are now running at a full 60 frames per second. The only slowdowns we experienced occurred between plays, but those were relatively minor and were present on both platforms. It was surprising to see just as many jaggies on the Xbox 360 as on the PS3.

Well, that is good to know. I am just cautious because of notoriously bad PS3 ports (Bayonetta, Orange Box, etc.). I am not beholden to either console, but I would prefer to start investing in PS3 games due to the unreliability of the XBOX 360.

Plus, Madden is made by EA, and we all know what that means. ;)

Bueller? Bueller? Anybody else have any insight? It's on sale on Amazon right now, so I'm thinking of going for it...

I didn't notice the comparison from GS that you edited in later. My bad. :p

Thanks!

I do know of one difference -- or at least, I have been told of one difference. On replays of long plays, the Xbox replays will not show the beginning of the play. On PS3s, you do see the whole play. I was told there was a technical reason for this difference due to how replays were implemented this year, but I am too lazy (and too busy) to search for it right now. It is pretty annoying though, as when I make a good play, I do like to replay it to watch the formations and how the offense or defense was set and reacts to the play.

Of course if you get it for the Xbox, you can join our AT Madden league. :)

P.S. If you're contemplating an earlier version, don't bother with a Madden version earlier than 09 for either console. 07 and 08 were horrendous. 09 was pretty good, as is 10.

Just ordered it for the PS3 yesterday. Sorry man, but I couldn't justify investing any more money in a totally unreliable system.

Hey, I don't blame you. I think there is a reasonably good chance that NBA 2K10 was my last Xbox 360 game purchase, if I pull the trigger and get a PS3 in the spring. Even if I don't, I haven't had much gaming time lately and I am really wondering how many games I will even buy next year. I think I bought a grand total of 3 console games this year (NHL 09, Madden 10, and NBA 2K10) and maybe 2 or 3 PC games (ArmAII, LoTRO, and maybe one other I am forgetting).
