Are there *any* current Socket 754 boards with a known-working AGP/PCI Lock ?

Hello

Firstly thanks to those that responded to my socket 939 / 512cache post.

I am thinking then:-

=> are there *any currently available* socket 754 boards that have a known-working PCI/AGP lock ?

No... nvidia's nForce3 150 was supposed to have it, but they claim the manufacuters of the boards did something wrong with the BIOS that makes it not function.

Via has NEVER had a working PCI/AGP lock on an AMD motherboard.

And I thought the Sis 755 chipset was supposed to as well, but apparently it doesn't either.

You'll have to wait for the nForce3 250... nVidia says it will have a working AGP/PCI lock... and nVidia doesn't usually make the same mistake twice in a row.

Also the next VIA chipset will also have PCI/AGP lock but will also have a faster HT then the nivida one.

So more competition is good for use. Keeps prices low and everybody trying to out do the next company.

BUT read his update. After better testing it was shown to NOT have a PCI/AGP lock. Kind alike the nForce3 150 chipset supports PCI/AGP lock but was not implmnted correct.

when i bought my shuttle an50r, i knew it didnt' have a working pci lock...
but that hasn't prevented me from overclocking at all..

i'm running a fsb of 289 right now and w/o the lock, i've had no problems even with my leadtek winfast tv tuner card :)

but i do hear that SATA drives do have issues above 237 mhz ... so in that case you'll need a pci SATA card that has a locked frequency of 33 mhz... and yes, they do exist! :)

I highly doubt you are running at 289 fsb with no pci/agp lock... maybe shuttle actually got their board working like the nv reference board.

You have to be very naive to believe VIA's promises. If you follow their boards for a while you know that these people have no credibility whatsoever.
