i have had 1 for the past 5 years, and its only been the past year or so that I started seeing finance charges added on to my total purchases even if i pay off the bill entirely every month.. so i've only been using my debit card mostly... any ideas for a new card?

ahem....0 balances every month... always pay it online scheduling it at least 2 days before due date...will call to see what this is.... i just thought that i have to pay them a small fee just for making a purchase

There should be plently.
My first card was with MBNA Masterard, and I had no surcharges or annual fees

you won't find a card that lacks all types of finance charges, but there are precious few that charge you a fee before you get a chance to pay it off every month...

If you've got enough cash in your checking account to use your debit card for monthly purchases, why aren't you able to use your credit card and pay it off before being hit with finance charges?

By finance charge, what do you mean? All my cards don't charge a thing if I pay them in full every month. Never had a card that did that I know of, I've had about 8 cards total so far.

You're doing something wrong, you should NOT be charged finance charges if you pay off the balance in full by the due date.

Does your current cc have an annual fee?

Do you carry over a balance from month-to-month?

Again you did something wrong or misunderstood your bill.

Or maybe your payment was posted 1 or a few days after your due date.

Call Wachovia customer service and ask them, "Why am I being assesed finance charges if I paid my bill in full and on time?".
