Are there any companies you don't feel guilty about warezing from?

I don't feel guilt downloading 'abandonware' that's 10 years or older, or if the company no longer exists and the title hasn't been bought off by a different company. I stay away from other warez.

There is no justification for theft.

If you can justify stealing from someone else, someone else can rightfully justify stealing from you.

"Warez" is a noun, not a verb. "Pirate" can be a verb. Jesus.
Hate to break it to ya, but Warez isn't a real word.
It's commonly accepted slang. And you don't know how to use it properly.

Says who? Webster? Language isnt static. What does it take for a word to be "real"?

If this is how you feel, then why are you complaining about me using warez as a verb?

I repeat, it's not a word, you cannot claim that it can't be used as a verb.

Screw = Noun
Screwing = Verb

Hat = Noun
Hating != Verb

Those are pretty much set in stone.

Warez/Warezing are not.

Hell, I doubt you could get a consensus on how to pronounce warez.

Hating is a verb, actually.

Warez is listed in Wikipedia. Most people know what it means. And most people know how to use it properly in English. You are not one of these people.

He didn't say it wasn't wrong, he was just pointing out that it's not the same as theft.

wow.. i think developers will beg to differ.. Also, most people don't feel guilty after stealing something.. sad but true.

I'm ok with snarfing software that I cannot buy from the producer anymore(Sure, there is always a scraggly copy on ebay somewhere; but if I cannot find it in a single store, even online, it's probably dead). Other than that, though, I'm against the practice.

The "w4r3z as justice" argument for ripping off certain companies always seemed a bit goofy to me, particularly in these days of very workable alternatives. Downloading a cracked Windows version isn't sticking it to the man, it's wanting what he is pushing, and being too cheap to pay for it. Running Linux, on the other hand... Same goes for Photoshop/Gimp, etc, etc. If you simply must have product X, suck it up and pay the price. If you are serious about sticking it to the company you don't like, use an alternative and, if possible, improve that alternative.
