i walked into best buy and the tv tuner cards there were like $150, that sounds ridiculous to me. Are there any cheap ways under $100 that i can do this without getting a horrible image?

i dont need HD or anything because my room only has the cable, no box or anything.

Your problem was you went to Best Buy. Browse around newegg.com. They have several options under $100 and even under $50.

Tuners are newegg are located:
Home >
Computer Hardware >
Video Cards & Video Devices >
Video Devices

Here is one for $40. Text

I have no idea if it is any good, but it goes to show that there are cheaper options.

Yes there are. Cards for legacy TV (analog off-the-air or cable) are $25 and less. Cards for digital OTA (ATSC or DVB-T depending on where you are) can be had for 50 to 80, even for notebooks. Digital cable or satellite cards are where it goes past the $100 mark, particularly when key card slots are needed.
