I had read a few times that a couple of companies might be coming out with greater than 80 minute CD-Rs. Are there any out now?

Thanks

well the only thing that i know of is
Sony is coming out with Double density CD's
1.3 gigs per cd
even more Mp's now
i tink you need a new drive to read them.. since the pits are smaller
much smaller, half the size , a stronger laser
but nothing that holds more then 80 minuets, unless you overburn
which would only yeild a few more minuets.
some games a protected that way

I haven't seen any of these mythical 99 minute CDRs.

However, inital reports from the Far East, seem to suggest that compatability with existing readers/writers is relaively poor.

Most recorders lose tracking at between 84 and 89 minutes, however, a notable few seem to get to 99 minutes.

Similarly, most audio players can't read them very well either.

Additionally, your recorder has to overburn, as there is no way for a CD-R to represent more than 79m59s74f of free space.
