Are there any Barebones Laptops with decent GPU's?

I was looking for a barebones laptop that was 14.1 or smaller with a GPU that would run BF2 at playable FPS. Low/Lowest settings are fine, just be able to run it on the road (I usually end up commanding when I'm on the road unless I have my e1705 with me - but I don't always depending on the trip).

I assume I'd need an x1400/7400 (maybe get away with a 7300 but I dunno bout all of that) and through my searching (I have limited knowledge of outlets for barebones laptops) I could only find such machines with the Intel 950. I actually saw an Asus 14.1 that had a 7600 in it. That would be absolutely ideal but I can't seem to find that GPU in barebones variety. Does such a beast exist?

Thanks,

i don't have any experience with this one, but the Compal HGL30 has an NVidia Geforce Go 7600 w/256MB of RAM in it. it's a 14.1" screen.

Really? That's awesome...might you have a link? Also, do you know anything about Compal? Are they just barebones makers?

That's not a barebones system is it? I had seen that model but it was like $1900. I like the idea of barebones because I can build it according to paychecks.

The A8J is a good lappy; the W3J is an even better laptop. Both are nice options if you can find barebones versions; expect to pay 700$+

Agreed, they are great options, but I can't find them in barebones with that GPU. That was kinda the point of the thread. All the machines suggested, while appreciated, are complete with processors, ram, OS, HD, etc. And as a result they are very expensive. I would like to build it (I mean, as much as you can) because I can spread the parts over a few checks. Asus would be FANTASTIC. If anyone knows of a link where I can get an Asus BAREBONES system with a GPU that will run BF2 at low quality with decent FPS (playable), I would LOVE to see it.

Also, if this thing doesn't exist, I'm fine with that too. I could find little evidence such a thing did. I found some 17" Barebones systems w/ x700's. But that's not quite what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the replies,

the hp dv2000t can be configured for (bare bones) @ $683.99 but carries the 7200.

Instead why don't you take the money over a few checks, save it, and buy a full one assuming it meets your needs?

I just got done saving for my e1705 and that was pretty rough. This way I can only spend what I have on it and it will be an ongoing project. Not to mention, if I buy whole I won't get the knowledge that comes with putting one together. I just took apart my toshiba to copy the HD and I was facinated by the setup. I want more.
