Because if there are, I haven't heard them.

Been a while since I listened to this and I had almost forgotten how freaking brilliant it is.

Getting myself psyched for the new album and concert this week :D

Tool - Lateralus

I feel that it's hard to seperate the top ~50-100 alums into any real ranked order, it's all great music for different reasons.

Hmm, Lateralus is good, but I would say it is Frances the Mute good, not De-loused good.

The Widow is so amazing.

Bah, worst song on the album, though still head and shoulders above most everything else out there.

Great CD, but I'd have to put it behind Saul Williams when it comes to listening to the abum straight through.

He isn't for everybody.

Thanks, I put it on my list. There is not a lot of hip-hop type stuff that I like these days, but this sounds more along the lines of something that would do it for me.

You have to dig deep for good hip hop these days. Sage Francis is another solid bet for smart lyrics.

I recommend Absolution, Origin of Symmetry, and Black Holes & Revelations.

EDIT: By the way, when I first heard Mars Volta, I instantly recognized the similarity with Muse. I think if you like Mars Volta you'll really like Muse.

I like Muse (Hullaballoo is the best thing they have put out IMHO), but TMV are in a class all their own.

There are plenty of albums that compare, although in terms of prog rock (or whatever TMV count as), I can't think of anything else that's as incredible.

LOL...you would probably laugh if you saw my music folder. Manson next to Madonna, Alizee next to Alice in Chains, Kris Kristofferson next to Korn. :D

Nothing wrong with being open-minded ;)
