Are there any ~7" tablets with microSD slots anymore?

They all seem to be moving away from this for some reason. I'm not always connected to the "cloud", and the whole idea of being streaming only doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling. I feel like I'm the only one who still uses more than 16gigs of storage as more and more phones and tablets are doing away with SD cards. I had the nexus 7 in my hand yesterday thinking I'd buy it immediately if I could store my ripped videos on it for flights.

i feel the same way too. screw cloud! they cant expect us to be connected to wifi/4g all the time.
the only thing viable for me now is the 5inch galaxy player from samsung with expandable mem

Funnily enough the Nabi 2, which is primarily designed for kids, is better equipped in some ways than the Nexus 7. It has microSD and hdmi, along with a Tegra 3.

I'm sure there will be 7" tablets with Jelly Bean, Tegra 3, hdmi, and microSD, and hi rez screens, just not sure how long it will be ?

I am enjoying my Galaxy Tab 2 7". Only thing it lacks imo is hdmi out but the sd slot and ir blaster are very good things to have.

If you had a mSD slot, there'd be no reason to get the higher capacity (read: more expensive) version.

Ooo, a built in IR blaster? I didn't know about that. Have you been using it as a remote?

I'd still get the higher cap version just to maximize my total capacity. But I guess that's just me.

The Acer A110 is coming out soon, and it's supposed to have both a microSD slot and HDMI, and it will have Jelly Bean.

Unfortunately, it's somewhat heavier, and it has a 1024x600 non-IPS screen.

BTW, my rooted Nexus 7 supports my tiny 64 GB Patriot Axle USB flash drive with Stickmount. (Patriot can't sell its own product name correctly.)

However, as of a couple of weeks ago there is an app available that provides both NTFS and FAT32 support for USB drives and doesn't require rooting.

I haven't tried it yet, but apparently it works well, at least with most common file types. One drawback mentioned is that MKV files don't seem to work natively with Nexus Media Importer. People renamed them to .avi and then they worked.

They also recently came out with the student edition which comes with a keyboard and USB adapter.

It's tempting with the microSD slot and rear facing camera. But most people prefer the Nexus 7 which has a better screen and processor. Too bad you can't combine the two.

Well, that's fine for you, but the Asus ME370T was the exact machine I was looking for actually. 1280x800 IPS with Tegra 3, plus the other stuff I mentioned.

And then it disappeared, and then reappeared cut down as the Nexus 7.

The Tab 2 is a 1024x600 dual-core and is sluggish, although I'm guessing Jelly Bean would go a long way to help things out.

You're putting a lot of words in other people's mouths. If Asus released the exact same tablet with a microSD slot, I would pick the Asus option over the Nexus every single time for that reason alone. Getting updates faster means squat if I can't use it properly. The Samsung is a poorly spec'ed option which is why you don't see it fly off the shelves... And yet I'm still more interested in it than the nexus 7 because of the features the nexus removed.

I wanted a Nexus tablet. But ASUS is the one company I'd make an exception for. ASUS only makes minor changes to the OS, doesn't add much bloat, and has a history of being among the first to update their tablets.

ME370T looked pretty nice, having some extra features and still supposedly at $250. I think I would have wanted that tablet more than the Nexus 7, though admittedly it'd be a tough choice between pure Nexus vs almost stock Android with a few extra features.

Well enjoy your pure android experience. Me, I'm having a blast with my galaxy tab 2 7" device and am enjoying the 64gb msd card loaded with music and video. And I love the ir blaster as well. So what if it's not as well specced as the nexus. I can do so much more with it.

I also have a Samsung Tab 2 7.0 and while it may be more sluggish than the Nexus, I do like having the micro SD slot and the fact the speakers are pretty good. Speakers are another thing tablet makers tend to overlook, but they are a selling point for some people and the Samsung tablets usually have pretty good speakers.

I played with a Galaxy Tab 2 at BB today, and it was pretty slow. I like the idea of having the IR blaster but it's slow enough to not be worth much else to me. None of the current JB roms support IR either so that's not an option.

Yeah, it is a tad sluggish but I was just looking for a replacement to my tf101 that is literally falling apart and I didn't need a powerhouse. It serves me well and I am hoping JB will pep it up.
