Looking for any sort of multilayer, shoot em up quick load and go for the mac (and has a PC counterpart so others can join) but have yet to find any. just want something for the office like quake 1 where we can load and go prettymuch and not have to follow some storyline. Anything?

SaurBraten (sp?) Is a cross platform 3D shooter with pretty stinking nice graphics, especially when you consider that it only takes up a few hundred megs of space.

Macs stink for games. Even running Boot Camp, it's not like you can throw a high-end graphics card in and have at it - you're stuck with what you have (unless you have the $$$ for a Mac Pro, in which case you could probably also buy a separate gaming computer). I tell people that if they want to game on their Macs, they need a console or a gaming PC.

Which is exactly what I have. I wouldn't go so far as to say that they stink for games... that is just simply not their purpose in life. And frankly, gaming (serious gaming) is not that high on the majority of people's lists of things they do with their computers. You will obviously find a disproportionate number of people here that game on their computers... but this is the exception, not the rule.

However, if you are serious about gaming... build a separate gaming rig.

heh, I'd like to see how UT3 does at native resolution on these 20/24" imacs with their barely middle ground graphics cards. Bioshock was deadly painful on my x1600 and that was with the resolution downgraded.

I played UT3 Demo, in Boot Camp, with my MBP (2.4 Ghz, 8600GTM 256 MB) at 1440x900, and it ran quite well. As well as my desktop with a x1950 in it. At least I couldn't tell a horribly big difference anyway.

I'll have to try it on my iMac later.
