Just curious

Are there Angels in all religions or only the Christian Religion? *I think Angels originated from the Christian Religion... if you are not a Christian or are sure there is not a God then do not believe in Angels ;)

Angels seem to be really popular lately.... Liberals think Angels are cool but want to hurt Christians... STRANGE... huh?

Christianity is an offshoot of Judaism, in that Jesus claimed to be the Messiah of the Jewish Faith. The Christian Old Testiment, the Jewish Bible, has many an angel. This means that "Angels" did not originate with Christianity, even in the Christian sense of the angel myth. Rather, the Christian type of "angel" originated with Judaism. This probably isn't correct, since the angel myth surely has antecedents that predate Judaism, but I'm not a religious scholar, so I can't point to any. There were Jews a long time before the bible was written down, and they could have picked up the angel myth from some other tribe and integrated it into their religious narrative. Myths like these get spread through different cultures and religions as different cultures and religions interact. Islam, which borrows heavily from both Judaism and Christianity, has many angels. These big three, they descendents of Abraham, contain the angel myth to which you refer. Other major religions world religions have different conceptions of the religious/spiritual universe, and therefore have different conceptions of the <God but >human.

muhammad was first apprised of his stature by "the angel gabriel," so yes, other religions have angels too. christianity seems to have elevated angels to a certain level of mythic stature that other religions have not, however.

Difference of opinion.......

After all, one group's/man's/nations hero is another group's/man's/nations terrorist.

My point exactly. It's all in the perspective of the observer.
If one society can villify another they can polarize a situation.

In that case Americans have pop stars, atheletes and movies stars. In both cases you have some people who deify other people for their own reasons, holding them above the norms of acceptability for society as a whole, what's your point? Or are you just trying to be witty?

Part of dying and being reborn, part of the collapse of dualism and the reintegration of the self in unity is often the occurrence of all sorts of powerful psychical events. Angels are part of that I reckon.
