Are the W Beds or Westin Heavenly Beds really that good?

Wife and I have been in talks to pick up a new king bed sometime soon... Our 8-10 year old Serta King is on its way out... Both of us wake up with back cramps from time to time or even just have trouble sleeping.

Some local Sealy place has 0% interest till 2010, as well as some other good local deals.

Anyway, as i've never stayed at a W hotel, I don't have first hand experience with their beds, but have heard good things about them. We did however very much enjoy every high end Marriott hotel bed we've been able to stay in, they are always so inviting. Same with a nearby Ritz Carlton... very very comfy beds.

i stayed at a W and it sucked, but then the entire experience was bad overall, so maybe that tainted my sleep.

Yeah, our impression of the W hotels is that it stands for WHY? because we'll never stay there again. DEFINITELY not the level of service and accomodation we're used to...A couple of people tried to blame it on our age vs. the target age group they aim for, but IMO, bad service is bad service, no matter what age.

Well putting aside the hotel stay itself, how was the bed?

meh...it was ok, but IMO, doesn't compare to the Westin bed. (same parent company, different beds in all hotel brands.)

I don't know where you're at in Florida, but Westin has many hotels in the state...go check one out...good excuse for a weekend out! "Honey, we're gonna go try out some new mattresses if ya know what I mean..." :D

I've stayed at a Westin golf resort in Palm Springs. Their heavenly bed was awesome. It just wraps you up, keeps you all snuggle and cozy. Kinda makes you feel like there's two gorgeous chicks cuddling up against you under the covers. :D

OP, you could just purchase a good mattress then head to Costco for one of their memory foam toppers. Ever since I bought one of those, no more back aches and I sleep like a baby.

Anything locally that would compare to the Heavenly Bed? Would love to try it out before buying.

I purchased a W bed over a year ago (with the featherbed and duvet). It's absolutely exceptional. I have never slept on a bed that is more comfortable. The duvet itself is just amazing.

If you get a chance to try one out - go for it.

You can find 40% off coupon code over at fatwallet (you can also read other people's impression of the mattress). It expires at the end of the month, but new codes are released pretty periodically.

I stayed at the Westin Kierland golf resort in Scottsdale, AZ about 2 years ago for a week during a work conference. Best bed I've ever slept in I must say. It just sucks you in and you wake up in the same position you fell asleep in. That, plus the 8 or so pillows they put on the bed. I also liked their heavenly showers with the 2 shower heads :)

i remember reading on another forum that even though the heavenly bed is made "exclusively" for westin, sealy or serta makes an equivalent bed that they sell to consumers at mattress stores, (i forgot who makes the heavenly bed, its either sealy or serta, i believe) its just named differently.

personally, i'm not too big of a fan of the heavenly or W beds. i guess it comes down to personal preference. even though 99 out of 100 people love the bed, u could end up being that 1 person that hates it. i'll try to find the model of the equivalent bed for you so that you can go try it out.

Well its Simmons who makes the Heavenly, but I haven't had much luck finding a comparable bed.

damn, i knew it started with an S. guess both my choices were wrong. some of my information from above is wrong too.

so, the "W bed" is the Simmons Beautyrest Starwood 425 Plush. not the heavenly bed.

My wife stayed at W and wants to buy the bed, if you read the fatwallet threads, there are a few versions of the bed.. so its hard to tell which one the hotel had and which one you're getting... but during xmas, it was 20% off.. and i think it had free delivery as well..

There are different versions of the Westin bed, search FW Hot Deals thread "Westin / The W Hotel - Heavenly Bed 20% Off" for reference.
