Are the temps a little too high?

I just assembled a new rig:

E8400
HD 4850 Sapphire (non-reference cooling)
ASUS P5Q Pro
OCZ 600W PSU
Antec Solo case

I was running P95 and the hardware monitor recorded the max temp to be 71C (ambient was probably around 35C).

I didn't over clock and I am using the stock HS & Fan.

As for the airflow, I have a 100mm Scythe intake in the front and a 1200mm Scythe fan in the rear as outtake.

Should I be cautious and purchase an aftermarket heatsink? I was looking at the xigmatek 1283 + Antec Tricool 120mm on low speed (a spare fan that I already have).

71C is pretty hot for an E8400, what are you taking temps with? However, your ambient is pretty high.

As for your fans, you sure have some unique ones there. Never seen a 100mm scythe fan or a 4 foot wide exhaust.

I would suggest you get some Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound and a good after market cpu fan/heatsink cooler. Stock cpu fans/heatsinks normally provide minimal cooling and protection. Sooner or later the odds are you will be looking for one, so might as well get looking now.

I would also double check to make sure that the stock cpu fan/heat sink is on tight and correctly. Also did it have a thermal pad...if so...was it seated good?

If you get the S1283, the stock fan works fine AFAIK. And he said the 120mm one was scythe as well... What model / RPM?
Plus your ambients are pretty hot. Isn't that 95F?

71C is fine especially considering your high ambient temp. If your planning to overclock then getting a custom cooler is a must otherwise leave the stock one.
If you were going above 80C then I would worry (My quads hit 80C using linpack, usually 10C less under P95).

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes its been hot in Southern California lately so my ambient has been pretty damn high.

Yesterday it hit 74C on P95 hehe.

BTW when I installed the stock heatsink I cleaned off the stock thermal pad and replaced it with AS5.

Since I will overclock it a little bit in the future I picked up an aftermarket heatsink yesterday.

I got the Xigmatek 1283 and now I'm waiting for the mounting bracket to arrive.

Lets hope that things cool down.
