Are the temp gauges inside of Intels's quads borked?

I don't get it. I see other peoples screenshots of 32-35C on the same cooler and I don't understand. Is it my Q8200's sensors that are just wrong?

The Q8200 in my main computer (GB EP45-DS3L) reads of as always being in the mid 40s in temp. It's typically clocked at either 2ghz or 2.4ghz with a steady voltage of 1.0V to 1.2V. Really, it's a lower power CPU. I have the Arctic Freezer Pro 7 attached to it. I also use Acrtice Silver Ceramiqe or Actric Silver. I have reseated my HSF way too many times trying to get my temps low. Cleaned it thoroughly. My temps never are cool. I even use an Antec P-180 case.

Are some prone to show the wrong values to temp reading apps?

Since your CPU cooler uses airfrom inside the case, that air has to be cool too.
How's your case cooling?
CFM intake should be about equal to CFM exhaust.

A lot of variables.

Different ambient temps. Different cooler/case fan types and RPMs. Different case airflow. Different thermal grease type and application. Different mounting pressure. Different monitoring and stress testing software. Different video cards and other components producing different amounts of heat inside the case. Different CPU steppings and revisions, as well as variances within a given batch for the same model.

Monitor your idle, real world, and artificial/stress testing loads to make sure they are within range for your CPU - your temps might be a tad high but still well within range. Make sure you are not using excess thermal grease and firm (but not excessive) mounting pressure, though the latter may not apply to your cooler as the pressure is fixed IIRC. Find the lowest Vcore that still maintains stability, or conversely use the smallest Vcore increase that provides stability at the OC you desire.
