Hey, didn't you see the 3-d episode? They live in some weird parallel cartoony universe. Maybe there aren't really "states" there as such, maybe the boundaries move around? Or maybe since they move the town 5 miles down the road every-so-often they're somewhere completely different but still call it Springfield, you know, for old times sake. Actually I believe they don't really live anywhere, Matt Groeing (can't spell it) probably hasn't even picked a place for them, he just likes confusing us.

THey're not from anywhere. Matt will put them whereever he wants, whenever he wants. Pinning them to one state would limit his options. If he wants an ocean an hour away, he's got it. If he wants a big city near by, he's got it.

It is THE cartoon, but it is a cartoon.

If you're going to go with the logic of "The Simpsons", let's look at it further:

Bart has been 10 years old since the show began
Ditto for Lisa, except replace 10 with 8.
Maggie still can't talk.
There's been about 8 different addresses that they've lived in.
No where in the US is there a Shelbyville that borders Springfield.

I could go on and on...

True, it is just a cartoon. But then wouldn't AnandTech be "just a website" but you don't see anyone making fun of it :)

Huh? Cartoons and websites are 2 different things.
In 1, you watch for a half hour and laugh.
In the other, you read, laugh, post, read other responses, and laugh. Often for more then a half hour.

See? Completely different.
